Charlotte’s unusual sense of creation and mixture of materials inspires her one of-a-kind pieces.  Wooden doors and old signs act as her canvases as she conjures up inspiration from their abandoned and weathered states.  Painting them rejuvenates their purpose and allows for a recyclable art to emerge.  The addition of paint gives these materials “unique and somewhat tattered appearances looking as if they are about to fall apart when in all actuality they have only just come to life.”

The artist uses linen, paper and any other material that inspires her to bring new life to the old.  The procedure is a creative process with an outcome that is always a surprise.  To Charlotte, the process is just as important as the result.  It allows her to form a real connection with her work through repetition of a very developed course of creation, but each with a unique outcome.   The torn and tattered, to her resemble abandoned, man-made materials awaiting discovery and to be brought through to their next phase of service.

The inspiration to create is in turn part of the inspiration for the whimsical stories and titles of many of the works.  Recurring trends of color themes and shapes, like circles, allow the collections to uniquely reflect the artist.  Every color and shape represents something different and specific to her.  For example, while creating “Cosmic Divide” the black coloration and use of spacing employed were a portrayal of thought about what the universe might have looked like at the beginning of creation.

“I am very drawn to circles because in my mind they represent the circle of life and mean a sense of God-like purity, something kind of like hope.  Even if I have to sneak it in with a tiny dot here or there, it completes the journey of the story of the story of Charlotte Harber’s Art.”           – CHA

Her creative surfaces are often treasures of an abandoned nature, discovered and serving as the foundation for her unique works of art; to these objects she performs a beautiful rejuvenation. With a material palette ranging from colorful paint and sticky glue to reused paper bags, Charlotte Harber is a one-of-a kind artist with a one-of-a kind process. Having created art in its many forms throughout her life, Charlotte’s masterpieces, made up of salvaged components rescued from their be-withered states, line the walls with pride and purpose. Objects incorporated into her original works of art start out in destructed and neglected forms.  With the artist’s resourceful approach they are brought to new life.  Anything from an old door, used frames and old canvases are fair game to Charlotte’s artistic ingenuity.  The results are much-adored masterpieces, each carrying a sense of vibrancy and appreciation with it to every home.
